Education for children,
care for widows,
hope for communities.

Bethel Mission carries out educational and livelihood work that strengthens communities, cares for people in need, and turns hope into meaningful action. We support the schooling of children and stand alongside widows as they rebuild a livelihood for their families.

“Let us do good to all people…”

Bougainvillea in flower over the entrance, and kolam drawn fresh on the ground before the day begins — the kind of welcome we hope everyone who comes to us receives.

What we do

Two things sit at the centre of our work: keeping children in school, and giving widows the resources to earn and provide. Everything else grows out of those.

Education

Supporting children's schooling

Books, bags and the school costs that quietly push children out of education. Here children work through their own textbooks together — the difference between staying in school and leaving it for good.

Livelihood

Standing with widows

The hall fills on a distribution day. Losing a husband often means losing the household's entire income overnight — we provide the resources that let a woman live with dignity and keep her children in school.

Community

Creating welcoming spaces

Every hand up at once. Safe, warm places where children can learn, play and build confidence alongside people who know their names — the setting that makes everything else in our work take root.

Together in the community

Families and volunteers meeting together. Our work runs through relationships built over years, not one-off visits — which is why the same faces appear again and again in these photographs.

Support that reaches the household

Provisions handed to each widow to carry home the same day. Support for a child's education only holds if the household around them can also eat.
